What is THE SCRIPTORIUM?
THE SCRIPTORIUM (SCRIPT) is a songwriting lab inside the Oval Table. You write lyrics in a focused pad; the lab surfaces rhymes, synonyms, wordplay and themes, and bridges your words to a Camelot key, a BPM and real beats from the library. It is assistive — a reference desk, not a ghostwriter — and it never writes a single word for you.
Does it write lyrics for me with AI?
No. THE SCRIPTORIUM never generates a bar. It hands you rhymes from a real dictionary, beats from a real corpus, and keys from the wheel — the pen stays in your hand. No scores, no hit-predictions, no verdicts — just a lens on what you already wrote.
Where are my lyrics stored? Are they private?
Your words live in this browser only. Nothing is uploaded and nothing leaves the device without an explicit tap. Because browser storage can be cleared, a one-tap .txt backup of every song is always available, free and forever — download often.
How does it connect lyrics to beats?
The BEATS lane reads the feeling in what you wrote — a labelled valence-and-theme lens, never a claim about you — and offers two or three Camelot seats it could live in. Tap one and the lab pulls real recordings seated in that key from the 2,354-track library, within your tempo. Every BPM, key, energy and length is a recorded value; a missing value stays missing and nothing is invented to fill a gap.
Is THE SCRIPTORIUM free?
Everything that helps you write is free, permanently: the pad, the rhyme and slant families, synonyms, themes, the rhyme-scheme highlight, the ANALYSIS lens, the flow reading, the beats bridge, the cross-blade readings, the share card and print-to-PDF. Two things are PRO: spelling a word from real library tracks (LIBRARY-SPELL) and removing the ⭕ mark from a shared card. Craft is never gated.
Can I install it, and does it work offline?
Yes. THE SCRIPTORIUM is installable as an app: on iPhone use Safari's Share menu then Add to Home Screen; on Android Chrome use the menu then Install app. Once installed it opens full-screen with its own ⭕ icon and keeps working with no signal — the dictionaries and the library are cached as you use them, and your lyrics were never on a server to begin with.
What is a Camelot seat, and why does my lyric have one?
A Camelot seat is a DJ's shorthand for a musical key — 1A through 12B — arranged so neighbouring seats mix smoothly. The Oval Table seats all 24 on a wheel. When the lab offers your lyric a seat it is proposing a key the words could live in and showing you where that key can go next. It is a reading, not a claim: testimony, not prediction.
How do I get my lyrics out, and back?
Four ways, all free. A .txt backup of every song for reading. A complete .json archive that you can put back with restore — the one backup that survives a cleared browser or a new device. A clean print sheet you can save as a PDF. And a hand-rendered manuscript card as a PNG, drawn on your own device and uploaded nowhere.
Real rhymes, real keys, real recordings — nothing fabricated. The readouts describe the shape of what you wrote, never its worth and never its future.
